Does Arizona require PTO payout?

Not automatically. Arizona has no law forcing employers to pay out unused PTO, so it comes down to your written policy or contract. If the policy promises payout, that promise is enforceable as wages. The controlling authority is A.R.S. § 23-353.

How Arizona treats accrued PTO

Arizona does not require PTO payout unless the employer's policy or contract provides for it. If a payout is promised in writing, the employer must comply. Arizona's paid sick leave (Proposition 206) does not require payout upon separation.
