Does Massachusetts require PTO payout?
Yes. Massachusetts treats accrued, unused PTO as earned wages, so your employer must pay it out when you leave, whatever the company policy says. The controlling authority is M.G.L. ch. 149, § 148.

How Massachusetts treats accrued PTO
Massachusetts treats earned vacation as wages. All accrued, unused vacation must be paid upon separation. Use-it-or-lose-it policies that forfeit earned vacation at termination are not enforceable. Employers who fail to pay timely may face treble (triple) damages plus attorney's fees. This is one of the strictest states for final wage compliance.
